Family Legal Aid

Legal aid is a funding system where the government funds the legal cost for family disputes or problems that could go to court. Whether you can get legal aid depends on your income, assets and the merits of your case.

How to apply for Family Legal Aid

STEP 1: Check your eligibility (income threshold) if you are an income earner click here or obtain a copy of your proof of income or WINZ letter confirming your benefit

STEP 2: Print and complete the application form here Legal Aid Application Form. Scan and email the completed form and evidence of income to eva@psalmslaw.co.nz and post the completed original form and documents to P O BOX 11-461 Ellerslie 1542.

STEP 3: Wait 5-10 working days for Legal Aid to process and assess your application. We will make an appointment with you once Legal Aid is granted.

If you are on a benefit and need help with legal advice on your child/ren’s care arrangement, I can see you and provide Family Legal Advice Service (a preliminary legal advice) now, please email at eva@psalmslaw.co.nz to make an appointment.
